Pilot Is To Offer Diesel Exhaust Fluid
Of interest to those with truck driving employment, Pilot Travel Centers has announced plans to become the first in its industry segment to carry diesel exhaust fluid, also known as urea, at its pumps. This component is needed to operate most of the upcoming 2010 truck engines say industry experts.
Those employed in truck driving will encounter challenges at first in finding reliable and convenient supplies of diesel exhaust fluid. Until the distribution system catches up with demand, there may be initial difficulties in locating reliable supplies when truckers are out on the road. Pilot means to make this process easier for its customers employed in trucking driving jobs.
Pilot Travel Centers’ initial launch plans call for diesel exhaust fluid to be available at an economical bulk rate at more than 100 of its locations across the U.S. beginning sometime in mid- to late-2009. What makes this initiative worth noting for OTR truckers is that Pilot has more than 325 owned or licensed retail interstate locations in 40 states, making the availability of the new fluid much easier for those who will need it.
Pilot says its decision to offer diesel exhaust fluid at the pump will make it very affordable and convenient for truckers who will soon be utilizing it in the newer compliant trucks.. It is one of the final infrastructure elements to be put into place for those with fleet company truck driver jobs and owner-operator truck driving jobs who plan to use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control technology to meet upcoming 2010 emissions standards.
Pilot Travels Centers states that its commitment is to ensure that supplies of the fluid will be available to over the road truck drivers during normal fueling stops anywhere in the country – and whenever they need it. The company also states this initiative will aid in leading the way for the new cleaner 2010 SR-equipped trucks to operate with virtually no emissions, thus operating in compliance with recent environmental regulations and legislation.
As well as offering the diesel exhaust fluids at its pumps at its more than 100 locations, Pilot Travel Centers are slated to carry convenient containers of the fluid for topping off to the levels required in the SCR-compliant trucks.
